As of this writing, the U.S. Open Bass Tournament is taking place on Lake Mead. During the pre-fishing days leading up to the competition, anglers described the black bass fishing as being pretty good. Between lures and drop shot rigs, anglers reportedly pulled largemouth and smallmouth bass from areas all over the lake. Most came from near the dam and Temple Bar. Striper boils have been most active between sunrise and 7 a.m. Jigging has proven the "sure-fire" way to bring the stripers in with lures, most frequently Sassy Shad, still working well.
