Russel Tank - Williams, AZ

Russel Tank is a small, 1.5-acre seasonal pond located in the Kaibab National Forest south of Williams, AZ. At 7,000 feet elevation, it offers a quiet, high-country escape for anglers seeking stocked rainbow trout in a remote setting. The tank is stocked by AZGFD in the spring and early summer, depending on precipitation and water levels.

Fishing is typically best in May and June, shortly after trout are stocked. PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs, and small spinners all produce well. Fly anglers find success with nymphs, woolly buggers, and small dry flies during calm evenings.

This is a primitive site with no formal amenities—anglers should come prepared with supplies and practice Leave No Trace principles. Shoreline access is excellent around the entire perimeter, and no boats are allowed. Dispersed camping is permitted nearby, and the area is rich in wildlife.
