(2,091 feet, 40-percent full). Jim Goughnour of Rim Country Custom Rods with a Nov. 22 report:

Good morning, Rim Country anglers,

Bass fishing on Roosevelt Lake was called fair this past week by local experienced anglers.

Each day the weather conditions changed from windy to cloudy then to sunny. Those changing conditions kept the anglers searching for the bass. Experienced anglers know that bass are there, but it takes experimentation to find them. Some were fishing deep water using deep diving crankbaits while others were finding bass chasing shad in the backs of cover using a shallow running crankbait.

Another factor is the water temperature that is now reaching the low to mid 60s. That's down almost 10 degrees in just a little over a week. Even the anglers that use the dropshot technique have moved from the normal 15-20 feet depth range to the 25-30 feet depth.

Crappie fishing reports slowed last week. Die-hard crappie anglers are fishing on calm days, in the afternoon until a few hours after dark. Tonight (Nov. 22) we will have a new moon, so a crappie lights which draw bait fish to your location will be very effective this week. Reports still suggest that average-sized crappie are being caught in schools; however, some days are producing good numbers.

The lake level currently stands at 40 percent full and it's been at that level for more than a month.

Water flows into Roosevelt Lake are nearly back to normal rates with the Salt River flowing at 100 percent and the Tonto Creek at 75 percent. The water clarity is very clear except for the very ends of the lake where the water flows in.

The news around Rim Country this week is that our local Bassmaster pro angler Clifford Pirch is one of four guest speakers this weekend at the Bass-A-Thon event sponsored by Anglers Marine. Most anglers know this is a huge event that gets a lot of national media coverage. Clifford is the only west coast angler, and his third win of the U.S. Open a few months ago will be of huge interest to lots of anglers and reporters. Check it out at www.anglersmarine.com

There are only a couple of weeks to order a custom fishing rod if your goal is to have it in time for Christmas. Things always get busy this time of year, so call for a free quote on any custom rod at 928-468-0263 or visit our website at www.rimcountrycustomrods.com

Rim Country Custom Rods wishes everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving Day.

Have a great week of fishing and I hope see you on the water.
