Threadfin and gizzard shad have been hanging in the back of the Vegas Wash, which is where you can find striped bass as well. When throwing live bait, larger shad have been igniting a quicker response from the striper. Anglers have also been working Spinnows or various shad imitations and jig heads. Mid-morning and into the afternoon has been productive. While out on the water waiting for that fish to strike, take a look up as January is prime time to observe migrating bald eagles.
