The Fall River remains a solid option through the August heat, with its cold spring-fed water keeping conditions consistent throughout the system. Fish are holding around weed edges, submerged wood, deeper slots, and undercut banks. Recent ODFW stocking has added fish around the hatchery and headwaters, while spreading out from the more heavily pressured areas continues to pay off.

PMDs remain part of the daily mix, with tan, olive, and small black caddis, Yellow Sallies, midges, and terrestrials all providing opportunities. Ants, beetles, and hoppers are increasingly worthwhile as summer progresses, giving anglers plenty of options beyond matching a specific mayfly hatch.

Nymphing remains the most consistent approach with Perdigons, Zebra Midges, scuds, and smaller mayfly patterns producing throughout the river. Small streamers are also worth keeping in the rotation, particularly around deeper weed lines and woody structure where larger fish have more cover.
