The hatch mix has broadened with PMDs and BWOs remaining important, but tan caddis, smaller micro caddis, Golden Stones, and Little Olive Stones are all showing throughout the system. Larger mayflies and terrestrials are also worth watching for, making this a good time to carry a wider dry fly selection and react to what is happening in front of you rather than waiting for one dominant hatch.

Subsurface fishing remains steady with Perdigons, stonefly nymphs, soft hackles, caddis pupa, and smaller mayfly patterns producing. Bull trout have also been active, making August a good time to bring the heavier rod and work streamers through deeper pools and structure.
