Now this is some great news! The smaller stripers are in, and anchovies are producing some nice catches.
Our local angler, Mike Merritt, is showing off his catch after picking up bait at our shop. He used his boat to reach his favorite fishing spot and landed 9 stripers—just one shy of the 10-fish limit. That’s a great catch for our stretch of the Colorado River below Davis Dam!
We also received a nice trout stocking at our community park, and anglers can still catch some quality rainbow trout. The Willow Beach Hatchery will be wrapping up trout stocking soon, partly due to warming weather and the large number of fish they’ve already provided.
Up on Lake Mohave, fishing has been a bit slow, as winds have been keeping some anglers in port. Be sure to pay attention to small craft warnings—there’s no sense in risking your boat. We do get plenty of great weather, so it’s always safer to wait for better conditions.
Hope this update helps! We look forward to seeing you—come in and share your catch. Let your friends know the paper is available in newsstands free of charge.
Remember, you can’t worry while fishing…
Now go catch a fish!
