The water levels are up—though it’s unclear for how long—but conditions are great. Trout stocking has been taking place on Tuesdays at Community Park, which has made both rainbow trout fishing excellent and striper fishing even better. This trout plant from the Willow Beach Hatchery will continue through the end of the month, so now’s the time to get out there and catch your limit of rainbow trout.

Our larger stripers have been hitting swim baits and glide baits in trout or white patterns. Carp are currently spawning, stirring up the water and even jumping at times. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are also nearing their spawn. Panfish activity should pick up once the bass leave their nests and the fry (baby fish) are on their own.

Up on Lake Mohave, trolling has been producing the best results. Anchovies should start working soon as the smaller baitfish move in. The striper bite has been a bit slow overall, and windy conditions have made it difficult to get out on the water.

Here’s a photo from last Tuesday’s stocking at Community Park in Bullhead City. We hope this helps for now, and we look forward to seeing you come in to share your catch and your story. Remember, our newspaper is now free at local newsstands, so be sure to let your friends know.

And remember—you can’t worry while fishing.

Now go catch a fish!
