The bite continues to be excellent along the Upper Kern River, with anglers fishing the 20-mile stretch finding success on salmon eggs, mini jigs, and worms. Fly anglers are also reporting very good action in designated fly sections while fishing nymphs and streamers. In the Lower Kern River, trout fishing has improved following recent plants, with all three sections from the mouth of the canyon to Isabella Dam receiving stockings this week. Trout are being caught on salmon eggs, pinched nightcrawlers, garlic-doused PowerBait, and mini jigs. The Lower Kern bass bite has also improved, with anglers picking up fish on crankbaits, jigs, and spinners, while catfish are being caught on dip baits, nightcrawlers, and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 1,450 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 300 CFS.
