Safe Boating Media Event at Lake Mead

Las Vegas, NV: With the Memorial Day Weekend fast approaching, the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and the National Park Service (NPS) are hosting a media event at Lake Mead to talk about boating and water safety. Members of the media will receive a private on-the-water ride-along with either NDOW game wardens or NPS Rangers.

    This Saturday is the start of National Safe Boating Week, a national campaign that partners state and federal agencies to promote safe boating during the week leading up to Memorial Day Weekend. English and Spanish-speaking rangers and wardens will be on hand to discuss what they are looking for this summer to ensure boater safety.

    Members of the Bureau of Reclamation will also be on hand to talk about Lake Mead water levels and the potential of a Lower Basin Level 1 Shortage Condition in 2022.

What:    Lake Mead Safe Boating Media Event

When:     Thursday, May 27, 2021
    10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Lake ride-alongs with NDOW or NPS staff
    2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Short tour aboard Lake Mead Mohave Adventures
    houseboat

Where:    Lake Mead Mohave Adventures will stage a houseboat at Las Vegas     Boat Harbor for media. The houseboat may be used to conduct interviews,     file stories or freshen up before going on camera.

Who:    NDOW Game Wardens and NPS Rangers will be available to take     members of the media on the water for interviews. Members of the Bureau     of Reclamation will also be on hand to talk about Lake Mead water levels.
    Lake Mead Mohave Adventure staff will be available to provide information
    about houseboat and other summer boat rentals.
