Strawberry Reservoir - Heber City, UT

Fish Spot Details
Fish Species: | Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout |
Strawberry Reservoir near Heber City is Utah’s flagship coldwater fishery, offering outstanding fishing for rainbow trout, Bear Lake cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon, and brook trout. This high-elevation, 17,000-acre reservoir is known for producing quality-sized fish in a picturesque alpine setting.
Rainbow trout are stocked regularly and grow quickly, commonly reaching 18 inches or more. Bear Lake cutthroat trout are subject to special slot limits—anglers may keep two trout daily, only one of which may exceed 22 inches. Most fishing occurs via trolling with spoons or bait rigs, while fly anglers work shorelines and tributary mouths with streamers and nymphs. Shore fishing is effective in spring and early summer using PowerBait or worms.
Kokanee salmon provide a seasonal highlight in midsummer, when they school before their fall spawn. Ice fishing is popular in winter, especially near Haws Point and Soldier Creek, using jigs tipped with bait.
Multiple marinas and campgrounds make access easy. Anglers should review all regulations carefully, as several seasonal closures and special rules apply, particularly for spawning tributaries.
Strawberry offers year-round fishing in a well-managed, scenic environment. It remains one of the most dependable and rewarding trout destinations in the state
