Dog Lake - WA,

Fish Spot Details

Fish Species: Rainbow Trout
Dog Lake, located near White Pass in Yakima County, is a compact, high-elevation fishery popular for spring and early summer trout action. At just 60 acres, it fishes well from both shore and boat, and is stocked annually with rainbow and brook trout.

The lake opens in late April, with excellent fishing in the first several weeks. Shore anglers use PowerBait or worms near the launch area, while boaters and float tubers troll small spoons and spinners around the lake’s perimeter. Gas motors are not allowed.

Brook trout are less common but can be caught near the inlet or mid-lake using flies or small lures. As the water warms in summer, trout move deeper and fishing slows, though early mornings remain productive.

Access is via a gravel road off Highway 12, with a Forest Service campground nearby. Snow can delay access some years until May.

Dog Lake offers peaceful, scenic trout fishing in a classic alpine setting. Its combination of reliable stocking, quiet waters, and easy access makes it a favorite early-season option for central Washington anglers.
