Silverwood Lake in Cedarpines Park, CA, is a 980-acre reservoir offering year-round angling opportunities for rainbow trout, striped bass, channel catfish, largemouth bass, and panfish. Nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains at 3,355 feet elevation, the lake is managed as part of the California State Water Project and is regularly stocked with trout in the cooler months by the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Trout fishing is productive from fall through spring, especially near Miller Canyon and Cleghorn. PowerBait, worms, and spoons yield best results following stocking events. During warmer months, channel catfish and striped bass take over. Catfish are caught using cut bait and chicken liver, while stripers respond to swimbaits, topwater plugs, and anchovies near points and the dam.

Largemouth and smallmouth bass provide quality fishing near submerged structure and rocky areas, especially during the spring spawn. Panfish, including bluegill and redear sunfish, offer consistent summer action.

Fishing is available by boat or shore, with ramps, a marina, and full public amenities. A California fishing license, day-use fee, and boating permit are required. Silverwood’s diverse fishery, high elevation, and ease of access make it a standout destination for anglers of all backgrounds.
