Jordanelle Reservoir, located between Heber City and Park City, is a high-elevation lake offering excellent year-round fishing for trout, bass, and wipers. Managed by Jordanelle State Park, the reservoir features modern amenities including multiple boat ramps, camping facilities, and accessible fishing areas.
Rainbow trout are stocked regularly and bite well on bait, lures, and flies from both shore and boat. Brown trout are present and typically caught during spring and fall near the Provo River inlet. Smallmouth bass are active in the warmer months around rocky points and submerged structure, hitting jigs and soft plastics.
Wipers, a hybrid of striped and white bass, are a highlight species. They school aggressively and respond to crankbaits, swimbaits, and spoons when chasing baitfish. Anglers often target them in spring and fall using trolling or casting techniques.
Ice fishing is popular in winter for trout and perch, especially near Rock Cliff and Hailstone. The lake is regulated under general Utah fishing rules, but species-specific limits apply. AIS protocols are strictly enforced.
Jordanelle’s combination of cold- and warmwater species, coupled with scenic views and excellent infrastructure, makes it one of Utah’s top angling destinations for both families and experienced anglers.
