Dogtown Lake, a 50-acre reservoir located just south of Williams, AZ, is a premier high-country fishery stocked regularly with rainbow trout and channel catfish, while also supporting populations of largemouth bass, bluegill, and green sunfish. Nestled in the Kaibab National Forest at over 7,000 feet elevation, the lake is accessible from spring through fall and offers excellent angling for both boaters and shore fishermen.
Rainbow trout are stocked multiple times a year and provide reliable action with PowerBait, worms, and small lures. Trout fishing is best during the spring and fall months when water temperatures remain cool. Fly anglers find success with leech patterns, buggers, and chironomids from float tubes or the shoreline.
During the summer, channel catfish offer evening action near deeper water, especially when using cut bait, chicken liver, or stink baits. Largemouth bass hold near structure and submerged vegetation and can be targeted with plastics and spinnerbaits. Bluegill and sunfish round out the fishery and provide constant action for youth anglers.
The lake has a boat ramp, electric motor access, and a nearby campground with facilities. Its location, consistent stocking, and scenic forest surroundings make Dogtown Lake a well-rounded, accessible, and productive fishing location in northern Arizona.
