Sow Low Lake is a peaceful, lesser-known fishing destination near Show Low, AZ. Despite its small size—just 11 acres—this high-country lake offers excellent trout and catfish fishing in a tranquil, forested setting. Situated at over 6,800 feet elevation, the lake is surrounded by pine and juniper forest and offers a rustic alternative to more developed White Mountain fisheries.

The lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout in spring and fall and receives channel catfish in the warmer months. Sunfish and the occasional bass add variety. Shore access is easy and ideal for families or anglers without a boat. Float tubes, canoes, and kayaks are welcome, although there's no formal ramp.

Anglers commonly use PowerBait, worms, and small spinners for trout, while catfish bite best on chicken liver or dough bait in summer. Fly fishers also find success with dry flies and nymphs along the shoreline.

Facilities are basic, with vault toilets and picnic tables, so visitors should bring their own supplies. A valid Arizona fishing license is required for anglers over age 10, with daily trout limits set at six.

If you’re seeking a low-pressure, rewarding fishing experience in a peaceful, pine-shaded setting, Sow Low Lake delivers with consistent action and a welcoming atmosphere for both novices and seasoned anglers.
