Goldwater Lake, located minutes from downtown Prescott, AZ, is a 15-acre high-country reservoir stocked with rainbow trout and home to largemouth bass, channel catfish, and sunfish. Managed by the City of Prescott in cooperation with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, the lake is stocked frequently from spring through fall, providing dependable trout fishing.
Trout are caught on bait (PowerBait, worms), small spoons, and spinners. Productive areas include the fishing pier and rocky shoreline near the dam. Stocked fish are often most active early morning or after a recent stocking.
Largemouth bass become more active in late spring and summer, typically caught near cover using soft plastics, jigs, or topwater lures. Channel catfish, though not stocked heavily, are present and caught in warmer months using cut bait, liver, or dough bait.
Goldwater also provides solid action for bluegill, especially in summer. Worms or mealworms under a bobber are effective near the bank, making it an ideal location for youth and family anglers.
The lake has paved access, a boat ramp, restrooms, picnic areas, and a dock. Only non-motorized or electric-powered boats are permitted.
With its forested setting, clean facilities, and steady fishing opportunities, Goldwater Lake is a top choice for Prescott-area anglers seeking a relaxing and productive outing close to home.
inflow/outflow: Bannon Creek
