Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of September 7th. After a delay, the next stocking of 1,000 pounds was delivered this week! The total stock so far is 6,500 pounds. A total of 8,500 pounds will be stocked this season with catfish stockings concluding in October.

What’s the catch? An overcast morning last Friday, made for some ideal bass fishing conditions, with anglers taking advantage of the low light to target bass on shiners. Bass have been active around rocky points, structure and deeper edges. The cloud cover helps keep fish shallow and feeding longer into the morning, so if you see a cloudy day in the forecast get out here!

Catfish continue to provide plenty of action, particularly during the evening and nighttime hours. Freshly stocked fish are still being caught, with mackerel, shrimp, chicken liver and dip baits producing fish. For the best results, fish your bait on the bottom near deeper shorelines, drop-offs, points and along the buoy line. Recent reports indicate that the last hour of daylight and after dark have been especially productive.

The lake will continue to be open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays through October.

Tight lines, and don't forget to share your catch with us using #LakeJennings!

Conditions: The water temperature is warm at 80.1 degrees. Temps throughout the water column are stable. The aerator has been turned on. The days are getting shorter with the sun is rising at 6:42 a.m. and setting at 6:33 p.m. The next new moon is this Saturday, October 10th making fishing conditions dark and ideal. Don’t forget to bring a full-sized lantern.
