Del Valle Lake Angler Report

Del Valle Lake - Livermore, CA (Alameda County)

Ted Cribari, Al Hurwitz, and Kim Middlebrooks trolled Lake Del Valle extensively on September 3, 2026, looking mainly for different Bass species. We trolled all sections of the lake, using mostly #4 size streamer flies trolled with leadcore line 15 feet below the surface. Scent was sprayed on the lures. We had only one terrific bite, but it was worth it—-a very beautiful 2.16 pound Largemouth Bass played nicely and caught by Kim (see attached photo). The largemouth was caught trolling a #4 Mickey Finn streamer fly. Beyond that excitement, we couldn’t induce any more bites. Not sure why. We didn’t observe Striped Bass “boils” and had no takes by Smallmouth Bass.

The water was very clear with a surface temperature in the low 70’s. A moderate breeze came up around noon.

We hope for an improved fall Bass bite as the fish feed more aggressively before the winter dormant period.

As always , we appreciate dock manager, Kenny Khuu’s great assistance in helping us to get on and off the water comfortably and safely!

All the best,
Ted Cribari, Los Gatos
Dr. Al Hurwitz, Saratoga
Kim Middlebrooks, Los Gatos
