Water levels at Stampede Reservoir continue to drop as summer progresses, but fishing remains productive for several species. Kokanee action is consistent near the Sagehen and Little Truckee inlets, with pink or orange hoochies behind dodgers working well at depths of 50–70 feet. Most kokanee are running around 8–9 inches. Rainbow trout anglers are having success trolling Rapalas, while shore anglers can find fish near the dam using worms, PowerBait, and spinners. Smallmouth bass fishing is also good around the dam and rocky shorelines. With opportunities for kokanee, trout, and bass, Stampede remains a solid option for anglers looking to target multiple species.
