Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout was stocked this week. The last stocking was December 15th. We will continue to stock Rainbow Trout through April. In sum, we will stock 19,000 pounds of trout this season with some additional stockings from DFW.

What’s the Catch? Trout are biting well right now in cool December water. Anglers are having good success from shore in Hermit, Cloister, and Eagle Coves. Black, grasshopper, and yellow mini jigs are producing good action. Trout will often move shallow early in the morning and then deeper as the sun rises. Long casts from shore into deeper water or near structure can increase your chances.

Bluegill are biting on nightcrawlers especially small pieces on a light rig with a bobber near shallow, vegetated shorelines. Bluegill will often hold around submerged structure and vegetation at the lake.

Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.

Conditions: The current water temperature is 69 degrees. With the solstice, the days are getting longer! The sun is rising at 6:50 a.m. and setting at 4:53 p.m. The new moon is January 18th, but we’ll be open for night fishing on January 17th.
