The Trask gets a run of hatchery spring Chinook salmon, and fishing has picked up in the river this week with some fish coming out of the hatchery hole and Loren's drift. A little rain this weekend should push more fish into the river, and further upriver. The Salmon/Steelhead Bobber Fishing Rule went into effect May 1st from the marker at Loren's drift up to Cedar Creek boat slide (See page 18 of the sport fishing regulations booklet for details).
Trout season opened in the streams on May 22nd and there are coastal cutthroat trout throughout the Trask basin, including the forks. This weekend's weather should make for good trout fishing conditions. There are some sea-run cutthroat showing up down in tidewater as well. Many areas have bait restrictions in place so check the regulations for those and open areas before heading out.
