The river is currently loaded with lots of small, wild steelhead with voracious appetites, especially for drifted nightcrawlers. Most are 12 to 14 inches long, with a few fish up to 5 pounds sprinkled in. There's very little pressure where most of the fish seem to be concentrated, from Sunrise to Rossmoor Bar.
