Trout fishing the Maupin area can be very good in the winter. Fishing a double nymph rig under an indicator will produce trout. There are summer run steelhead throughout the river at this point of the year, but I would focus my attention on those big resident redside trout. DON'T FORGET: everything upriver from the Warm Springs Reservation Boundary is closed until late April.
