Water temp: 55-57 Degrees
Water clarity 1ft- 3ft
Tide: High tide to low
Winds: 20-25mph

I took my buddy Matt Farley to the Delta. We launched from Paradise Point around 7:30am and headed south towards the main river.

I figured because it was towards the end of the storm we would see a tough day out there. We had high winds pushing us and short periods of heavy rain added to the mix.

With all the rain we had in the few days prior the tides were very high. We could even see over the levee in most areas. Because we had a very high tide we began to focus on normally productive weedy flats with rocky banks where the fish could move up higher than normal to feed. Most of what we found was on River2Sea Square bill Crankbaits in the Biggie Poppa size and Red in color. This bite worked best in the short periods of rain that occurred.

We tried some dead end sloughs with sparse tules and brush to see if we could catch some bass that may have moved off of beds or had been staging. In one area we tried, we had caught them dead sticking a wacky rigged 5” Senko in the 8-10ft range. This produced some decent fish close to 3lbs.

We ran around the delta and found with the high tide we could reach new areas we normally couldn’t get into and found some smaller bass staying tight to tule clumps inside the creek channels.

Once the tide had shifted outward we searched for good punch mats in our area. It took some searching but we found one mat that produced some bites. These fish were still only in the 3lb range though. We put in the work but couldn’t find anything huge. The biggest fish pushing 4lbs were on the River2Sea Square bill Crankbait. Best 5 fish went close to 14lbs.
