Lake elevation is 1,659 feet (97-percent full). Canyon was stocked last week with rainbow trout, and Canyon is one of the top waters in the state right now to throw trout swimbaits for monster bass. Check out a Fish AZ article about kayak-fishing the lake with swimbaits -- it can be hit-and-miss fishing at its finest.

The Tonto National Forest has closed the fishing dock at the Boulder Recreation, possibly until Sept. 5, 2015. See more information.

Like Saguaro, anglers can draw reaction strikes using jerk baits, crankbaits and, at certain times, spinnerbaits and top-water baits can really come into play. The jerk bait is the main bait.
